Lichen planus is a non-infectious disorder of unknown cause and immune-mediated disease that most commonly affects in people over the age of 30 years. Lichen planus may affect the skin (cutaneous lichen planus), mouth (oral lichen planus), genitalia (penile or vulvar lichen planus), scalp (lichen planopilaris), nails, or esophagus.
